Swedish patriarch. He is also listed in some records as Johan Truvesson. He worked on the huge project of building a railroad between the Scandinavian capitals of Oslo and Stockholm which brought him to Vermillandia in western Sweden in the 1870's. He met and married Kristina Erlandsdotter there and began his family, subsequently moving up north for work at the ironworks in Borlänge, Dalecarlia. He was a temperamental and exotic farmer and horse trader there. He died in Tjärna Village of comsumption of the throat, after an accident where a heavy digging spit ruptured his Adams apple. He and his wife had four sons and four daughters. They founded the Ridderstedt branch of the greater Trued Family though their sons John (Jr.), Erland P. and Jacob Ridderstedt and daughter Hanna Fredin. The branch has spread to several U. S. locations, besides being quite large in Sweden.
