~OBITUARY OF ALBERT W. BEHNE

Albert W. BEHNE, 77, long time resident of Hooker, Oklahoma died after a long illness on Saturday, December 22, 2007, at Denton Regional Hospital in Denton, Texas.

Albert was born in Guymon on June 06, 1930, to Edward and Edna Hockett BEHNE. He worked on the family farm and at the sale barn in Guymon in his early years, later for Sooner Freight Lines and Noble Drilling Company. His next job venture was with Francis and Behne Construction Company. His brother Louis bought the construction company and Albert was the bridge foreman, building bridges all over the state until retirement.

He was united in marriage to Sue WALKER on May 20, 1947, in Clayton, New Mexico. The couple lived in Seiling, Oklahoma, while working in the oil fields, and later moved to Hooker, Oklahoma, in 1966, where they raised their family for four children and became active in the community. In their retirement years they raised puppies for the Leader Dogs for the Blind program.
Albert was an active member in his church, the First Christian Church, as deacon and greeter.

Preceding him in death are his parents, his wife, Sue, a brother, Louis and sisters, Pearl GREEN and Mary BRUNE.

Surviving him are his four children, Alberta LEMMONS and husband Chuck of Seiling, Oklahoma, Roger BEHNE and his wife Retha of Guymon, Tia BEHNE and partner Shauna RHOADS of Whitesboro, Texas, and Ken BEHNE and wife, Mary of Veguita, New Mexico; brothers Robert BEHNE and Jim BEHNE both of Guymon; sisters, Dorothy FARRINGTON of Guymon, and Dora SALES of Kingsland, Texas; nine grandchildren and numerous friends.

Funeral Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 26, 2007 at the First Christian Church in Hooker, Oklahoma, with Rev. Stan Hamamoto officiating. Interment will be in the Hooker Cemetery directed by the Roberts Brothers Funeral Home, Inc. in Hooker, Oklahoma.
