Floyd R. Murphy, 63, of Malta Route 1, died unexpectedly at 10 a.m. Sunday at his home following an apparent heart attack.

Mr. Murphy was born in Morgan County Aug. 13, 1899, a son of William and Phoebe Van Horn Murphy. He was an employe of Malta Manufacturing Company. He attended Seventh Street Church of Christ in McConnelsville.

Surviving are his widow, the former Gloria Bughman of the home; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Bonnie Roman of Cleveland and Mrs. Donna Pletcher of Malta Route 3; a stepson Myles Benadum of Youngstown; four sisters, Mrs. Glady Shimmel of Lowell, Mrs. Bernice Beach of East Fultonham, Mrs. Rose Barnhart of Malta and Mrs. Alta Scott of Newark; two brothers, Charles Murphy of Malta Route 2 and James Murphy, also of Malta Route 2, seven stepgrandchildren and one great-stepgrandchild.

The body was taken to Miller Funeral Home in McConnelsville where friends may call after 1 p.m. today.
