Gladys F. Schimmel, 82, of McConnelsville, died at 1:54 p.m. Monday in the emergency room of Good Samaritan Medical Center. Born June 8, 1897 in Corning, a daughter of the late William and Phoebe Van Horn Murphy, Mrs. Schimmel was a member of Nazarene Church, McConnelsville.

Her husband, George, preceded her in death.

Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Mary Mehling of Zanesville, Mrs. Alta Travis of Lowell, Mrs. Dean (Bonnie) Coulson of Philo and Mrs. Raymond (Maxine) Bankes of Malta Route 1; two sons, James F. Brown Jr. of 1010 Blossom Lane, Zanesville and Theodore L. Brown of 3760 Meadowbrook Drive; two sisters, Mrs. Bernice Beach of 2505 Shaw Road, Zanesville and Mrs. Perl (Rose) Barnhart of Malta Route 2; 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at Fisher Funeral Home, McConnelsville, where services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday with the Rev. Robert Worthington officiating. Burial will be in Malta Cemetery.
