William Anderson Hathaway, 81-year-old retired business man of Carmichaels and a member of a pioneer family in Greene county, whose death occurred Thursday night, January 27 (Death certificate indicted 1/28/1938), 1938, will be laid to rest Sunday afternoon in Laurel Point Cemetery. Services will be held at 3 pm in the family residence with the Rev John O Miller of the Presbyterian church officiating. Mr Hathaway was the founder of Hathaway Grove, which he conducted until a few years ago when he retired from active business life. One of Mr Hathaway's organizations was the old Carmichaels military band which he started many years ago. He was a son of John Walton and Ary Anderson Hathaway, who were among the leading settlers of Greene County. He spent his entire life in Carmichaels and vicinity and engaged in farming in his later years. Surviving are two sons, Paul R and Robert of Carmichaels, and two daughters, Mrs. Jessie Olive Fox, Washington, Pa, and Mrs Edna H Stillwell, Carmichaels; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
