Robert Hathaway, aged 66, well-known Spanish-American War Veteran and retired Carmichaels businessman, died Friday, August 10, 1945, in the Aspinwall Veterans Hospital where he had been a patient for two months. Mr. Hathaway had been in failing health for six years. A life-long resident of Carmichaels, he was born May 29, 1879, a son of the late William A. and Ella Hart Hathaway. He was married December 24, 1905, to Alma Crago, who survives, with two sons, Richard and Ray. Mr. Hathaway also leaves two sisters, Mrs. Edna Keller and Mrs Jessie Fox. Mr. Hathaway was engaged in the livery business for a number of years and later engaged in taxi and garage business but retired six years ago due to health reasons. He was a member of the Carmichaels Presbyterian Church, and was affiliated with the Masontown Lodge F. & A.M., and the Carmichaels I.O.O.F. and the VFW Post at Carmichaels.
