Carmichaels, April 16 - This borough's oldest native, Charles Yard Hathaway, 88, died at his home this morning following a short illness. Mr. Hathaway was in perfect health until about ten days ago when he fell in his home. Mr. Hathaway, a widely known and highly respected retired farmer and merchant, was born January 21, 1852, a son of John W and Ary Anderson Hathaway. He was the last of a family of nine children. His entire life was spent in the same building in which he died. The deceased was twice married, his first wife being Laura Donley of Mt Morris, who died in June 1883. In 1889 he married Nettie Lynn who died six years ago. Surviving are five children, Mary Hathaway, Alice Hathaway, Mrs. John G Baily, Lynn Hathaway and Mrs. Russell B Grooms, all of Carmichaels. Five grandchildren, Mrs William Paller, Dry Tavern, Paul Guesman and Jean, Doris and Virginia Lee Baily of Carmichaels.
