Mrs. Freeman (Leona) Borgrud said, "Andrena Made the best fattimand that you ever tasted."

Andrena and John were members of the Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Evansville, Minnesota. This church burned January 3, 1972. This church is now known as Faith Lutheran Church in Evansville. John was one of the first trustees of this church for a 2 year term.

MRS JOHN DAVIDSON

Mrs. John Davidson, one of the very first pioneer women in this community, passed away Sunday morning May 10th, at her home here in Evansville, reaching the ripe age of 85 years, 4 months and 7 days.

Mrs. Davidson was born in Norway January 3, 1840. She was married to John Davidson in Christiania, now Oslo, Norway, the 12th day of June 1863. They emigrated to America in the spring of 1866. That same fall they filed a claim on their homestead, now known as the D.J. Davidson farm. The following spring, the family moved on their homestead, which
became home for many years. Evansville at that time only had one log house with a straw roof and the population numbered two men. This was the nearest and only neighbor.

The spring of 1868, Jack Schener of Evansville brought his wife, who was the first white woman Mrs. Davidson had seen for a year. The same year homesteaders began to arrive.
The only transportation was the covered wagon drawn by mules or oxen.

Twenty-seven years ago Mr. and Mrs. Davidson retired from farming and moved to Evansville where they made their home. Mr. Davidson preceded his wife in death seventeen years ago.
To this union nine children were born. The five surviving are O.J. Davidson of Wheaton, Minn., D.J. Davidson of this community, A.J. Davidson of Watkins, Minn., Laura Hagen of St. Paul and Hilda Clayton of Minneapolis.

The deceased was a member of the Norwegian Lutheran Church and the first service of that church was held in her home about 55 years ago.

Mrs. Davidson's last request was to thank her neighbors and
friends, especially Mr. and Mrs. Chris Nelson, for their many acts of kindness towards her at all times.

The business houses of the village were closed for an hour during the funeral services as a last mark of honor to her.
The remains were laid to rest in the family plot, beside those of her husband in Mound Park Cemetery.
The funeral was held from the Norwegian Church Tuesday afternoon, Rev. H.B. Raun officiating.
