JUNIOR MATHIS
Junior Mathis, 75 of Macon, died Tuesday, Mar. 18, 1997 at the Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville.
Funeral services will be held at the Hutton & McElwain Funeral Home in Macon. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Macon.
Mr. Mathis was born May 1, 1921 in Macon County, the son of James William and Lettie (Hatfield) Mathis.
He married Jaunita Falkiner on Dec. 3, 1944 in Macon.
Surviving are two daughters, Carolyn and her husband, Ron Martin of Ballwin, and Linda Mathis of Kirksville; and two grandsons, Kevin and Jeff Martin of Dexter, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife on Aug. 27, 1996; two sisters, Orva Faught and Anna Mae Gipson; and two brothers, Famis and Clarence Mathis.
Mr. Mathis and his wife were founding members of the Macon Flywheel & Collectibles Club. He worked as a mechanic for Tibbs, Walters, Suttons & Mathis Auto Service. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII.
