Son of James Tazewell and Sarepta Frances Hill Sheppard. He had owned and operated a general store, grist and lumber mill in Lawsonville, NC. Husband of Sallie Jane Shelton of Patrick Co. Va., who he married on Aug. 1, 1898. He was survived by sons Richard E. Sheppard of Ridgeway, Va. and A. Glenn Sheppard of Stuart, Va., and daughters Mrs. George Carter, Mrs. Frank Lambeth Jr., and Mrs. Tommy Shropshire of Ridgeway, Mrs. Moir Clark of Stuart, Mrs E.E. Hundley of Danville, Va., Mrs. O'Neil McIvor Crouch of Martinsville, Va., and Mrs Ratterree of Winston-Salem, and two brothers, Callie Sheppard of Sandy Ridge, NC, and Zack Sheppard of Lawsonville.
