She was born on Aug. 15, 1912 in Fairpoint and celebrated her 100th birthday this past summer.
Louise was the fourth of 10 children born to Allen and May Brown and grew up on many farms in the Mill Hall area.
She was married to Graden Richey for 63 years; he preceded her in death in 1998.
Also preceding her in death was a daughter, Susan Smith, formerly of Castanea.
A daughter, as well as three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and two sisters.
A graduate of Lock Haven University, Louise taught in the Keystone Central School District for a number of years. She was a well-known local artist who followed her passion for painting most of her adult life. She created an estimated 150 paintings, many of which were scenes around the central Pennsylvania area. Her art has been exhibited in numerous shows and exhibits over the years, most recently a one-person exhibition at the Ross Library in 2005. She was honored by a 2003 Express newspaper feature article entitled, "Her Life's Work." An art award given yearly to a Central Mountain High School graduate planning to study art has been established and was given for the first time in 2011.
Louise's funeral was held at the Donald G. Walker Funeral Home, 231 High St., Flemington, on Friday, Nov. 9, 2012.
Interment was in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
