Hattie M. Callear of Athens RD 2 died at her home on Monday Oct., 27, 1986. Born Feb. 22, 1905 in Sayre, she was the daughter of Robert and Hattie Ridgeway Callear. She graduated from Athens High School and the Robert Packer School of Nursing and was employed at the RPH. She retired in 1970. A lifelong Valley resident, she was a member of the Athens United Methodist Church, its Wesleyan Class, the National Audubon Society and the Ladies Libray Club of Athens. Surviving are six sisters: Mrs. Lillian Burns of Athens, Mrs. Clymer (Evenlyn) Wurtenberg and Mrs. Herthel Johnson, both of Newark Valley, Mrs. Arlene Fraley of Sayre, Mrs. Henry (Alta) Rolfe of Dunnellon, Fla. and Mrs. Leola Norris of Athens: three brothers, Robert and Elmer, both of Athens and Gerald of Sayre: numerous nieces and nephews. A brother, Clinton predeceased Miss Callear. Friends may call at the Lowrey Funeral Home, 225 South Main St., Athens Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral services will be there at 2 p.m. Thursday with the Rev. Dr. Wilmot Mather, her pastor officiating. Burial will be in the Tioga Point Cemetery, Athens. Memorials may be directed to the Wills and Memorial Fund at the Athens United Methodist Church. –Towanda Daily Review
