F.A. Kohlmiller
Fred A. Kohlmiller, 86, a retired farmer, who resided for many years in the American Bottoms, died at 3:10 a.m. today in St. Mary's Hospital, East St. Louis, following a cerebral hemorrhage. He'd been a patient at the hospital for one week.
He was born in Old Rippley, Ohio, October 24, 1869. He's been retired for the past 19 years and for the past 14 years had made his home with a son Fred Jr, at 418 Garrison Ave., East St. Louis.
Prior to his retirement he had farmed south of Hartford and also in Upper Alton. He was preceded in death by his wife and it was after her death that he retired from farming.
Surviving are five sons, Henry, Milwaukee Wisconsin; Robert and Leonard, Wood River; Fred, East St. Louis, and Edmund, Caseyville; four daughters, Mrs. Sarah Schillinger, Hartford; Mrs. Viola Rothe, Detroit Michigan; Mrs. Alvina Lindley, Pocahontas, and Mrs. Harriet Bauer, Granite City He also leaves a niece, Mrs. Sarah Waymire of Wood River whom he had reared; a sister Mrs. Vahle, Alton, and a number of nieces and nephews.
The body is at Marks Mortuary, Wood River, where friends may call after 6 p.m. Saturday and until time of the funeral Mondat at 1:30 p.m. Rites will be conducted by Rev. Eugene Smith pastor of Evangelical and Reformed Church, Wood River, at the mortuary.

Conducted with the Rev. Eugene Smith, pastor of Evangelical and Reformed Church Wood River officiating, funeral rites were held Monday at 1:30 PM at Marks Mortuary Wood River, for Fred Kohlmiller Sr.
Burial will be in Upper Alton Cemetery. Organ selections were by Mrs. harry Marx. Casket bearers were Matt Waymeyer, George Kohlmiller, George Schillinger, Charles Bauer, Thomas Bauer, and Cleo Kruckeberg.
