Plains -- Casper "Cap" Amerin, 73, died April 20, 1995 at Lone Tree Retirement Community, Meade.

He was born July 21, 1921 at Plains, the son of Enos and Margaret Rudolph Amerin.

A lifetime Plains resident, he was a retired farmer. He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Plains, and a life member of the VFW, Liberal. He was a US Army veteran of World War II.

On Nov. 27, 1964 he married Doris Werth Smith at Great Bend. She survives.

Other survivors include a daughter, Rhnae Amerin, Dodge City; three stepsons, Bill Smith, Plains, and Verlyn and David Smith, both of Grove, Okla.; four stepdaughters, Carol Stegman, Lincoln, Janelle Kenton, Dodge City, Kay Kost, Hugoton, and Gaylene Bauere, Grove, Okla.; 18 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Vigil service will be at 7:30 p.m. today at St. Partrick's Catholic Church, Plains. Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the church, with the Rev. George E. Mueller presiding. Friends may call from noon to 6 p.m. today at Fidler-Orme Mortuary, Meade. Burial will be in the Plains Cemetery.
