Plains -- John Amerin Sr., 81, longtime Plains resident, died Tuesday, Nov. 16, 1982 at Southwest Medical Center following an extended illness.
Born Dec. 6, 1900 at Pfeifer, Russia, he married Anna Schield, Feb. 7, 1928 at Plains.
He was a retired farmer and had been a Plains resident since 1916. He was a member of the St. Patrick Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus; and former member of the Plains City Council.
Survivors include his wife of the home; three sons, Ralph of Johnson, John Jr., of Plains, E. G. (Butch) of Plains; four daughters, Mrs. Jerry (Anna Marie) Banker, Oklahoma City, Okla.; Mrs. Pete (Margie) Kramer, Ulysses; Mrs. Franklin (Angie) Ebeling, Plainview, Texas; Mrs. Kelley (Betty) Holmes, Plains; four brothers, Pete of Dodge City, Ed and Casper, both of Plains; Joe of Liberal; two sisters, Barbara Eaton, Plains; Helen Hanson, Hutchinson; 30 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Rosary will be at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Fidler-Orme Mortuary, Meade. Funeral Mass will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday from the St. Patrick Catholic Church, Plains, with Fathers Jerry Strecker and David Kraus officiating. Burial will be in Plains Cemetery. Friends may call from noon until 10 p.m. today at the funeral home. The family request memorials be to the church.
