Plains- Helen M. Hanson, 88, died Wednesday, May 1, 2002, at Golden Plains Nursing Home in Hutchinson.

She was born Nov. 22, 1913, to Enos and Margaret (Rudolph) Amerin in Lakin.

She married Adam Eakes. He died in November 1941. She married Irvin Hanson in March 1958. He died May 8, 1988.

She was a retired employee of Ineeda Laundry and Cleaners and was a homemaker. She had been a long-time resident of Plains before moving to Hutchinson in 1954. She was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Hutchinson and the Altar Society in Plains. She was a former member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Plains.

Survivors include four daughters, Barbara Cox, Jamesport, Mo., Agnes Knott, Plains, and Joyce Potter and Marcella Showalter, both of Hutchinson; one brother, Joe Amerin, Liberal; 20 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by one son, Roy Eakes.

Vigil services will be at 7:30 p.m. Friday at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Plains. Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Patrick Catholic Church with the Father Zino Ye Swe presiding. Burial will be at Plains Cemetery in Plains. Friends may call from 1-5 p.m. Friday at Fidler-Orme Mortuary in Meade.

Memorials are suggested to the donor's choice in care of Fidler-Orme Mortuary, P.O. Box 70, 212 S. Fowler St., Meade, KS 67864.
