Joyce Marlene Potter, 80, died Dec. 25, 2016, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. She was born March 31, 1936, in Plains, to Adam and Helen (Amerin) Eakes Jr.

Joyce graduated from St. Teresa's Catholic High School in 1954, and was a parish member of Church of the Holy Cross. She worked at Ineeda Cleaners for over 30 years, eventually becoming a general manager before she retired.

Joyce had many friends in the community and loved her church family. She traveled extensively overseas when she was younger, visiting many places, including Europe and Morocco. She also enjoyed traveling within the United States, especially to Washington D.C. Most of all she loved sunflowers and her grandchildren, as well as hosting family gatherings.

Survivors include: children, Michael Potter and wife Laura of Wichita, Patricia Albrecht and husband Matt Davis of Darnestown, Md.; grandchildren, Kaili, Brady, Dylan, Emilee, Logan and Megan, all of Wichita. She was preceded in death by: her parents; brother, Ray Eakes; and sister, Barbara Cox.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 29, 2016, at Church of the Holy Cross, Hutchinson, with Father Bob Pinninti presiding. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. with the family to receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice House in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
