Dodge City- Doris M. Amerin, 72, died Monday, July 10, 2000, at her home in Dodge City.
She was born Jan. 1, 1928, to Anastas and Anna (Jacobs) Werth in Ellis.
She married Casper "Cap" Amerin Nov. 27, 1964, in Great Bend. He died April 20, 1995.
She had been a resident of Plains since 1964 before moving to Dodge City in 1997. She was a homemaker. She was a member of the St. Patrick Catholic Church, the VFW Auxiliary and the Altar Society, all of Plains.
Survivors include three sons, Verlyn Smith, Branson, Mo., David Smith, Grove, Okla., and William "Bill" Smith, Plains; five daughters, Carol Stegman, Lincoln, Kay Kost, Hugoton, and Janelle Kenton, Gaylene "Gay" Bauer and Rhnae Schneweis, all of Dodge City; 20 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, Ronald J. Smith, June 18, 1970; one sister, Hattie Degenhardt; and one brother, Marvin Werth.
Vigil service will be at 7 p.m. today and funeral mass will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, both at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Plains with Father Zeno Ye Swe presiding. Friends may call from 3 to 5 p.m. today at Fidler-Orme Mortuary in Meade. Burial will be at the Plains Cemetery in Plains. Memorials are suggested to the Hospice of the Prairie, in care of Fidler-Orme Mortuary, P.O. Box F, 212 S. Fowler Street, Meade, KS 67864.
