Robert "Bob" Parker was one of 11 children born to Edward L. Parker, Sr. and Catherine Byrne Parker.

In birth order: Margaret, Joan, Edward, Jr., Catherine, Robert, Paul, Virginia, Philip, Mary Anne, Geraldine, and Richard.

Bob joined the U.S. Army on February 23, 1946. His specialty was an engineman. About 1949 Bob left the Army to join the U.S. Marine Corps. He was a Marine for about three years. His rank was a Corporal. His specialty was an aircraft mechanic.

After that he followed his father's footsteps and became a Union sheet metal worker. He was a member of Sheet Metal Workers Local 73, which covered the Chicago area. After some time, Bob became employed full time with Local 73 as a business agent.

On December 9, 1954, Bob married Judith Ann Hamilton in Cook County, Illinois. The couple had five children: Robert, Jr., Stephen, Michael, Dawn, and Judy, Jr.

Bob, Judy, and their five children lived at 9201 S. Utica Avenue in Evergreen Park for many years. After Bob retired, he and Judy moved to a home in Valparaiso, Indiana.
