Paul E. Runnells, 74, Greencastle, passed away on Tuesday, May 7, 2013. Graveside services took place Monday, June 3, at the Coatesville Cemetery. His family held a celebration of life on Friday, May 10, at Cornerstone Baptist Church on Bloomington Street in Greencastle. Arrangements were by the Hopkins Rector Funeral Home, Greencastle.
Born April 16, 1939 in Putnam County, he was the son of Vern and Margaret Runnells, who preceded him in death. He married Peggy E. Nichols in 1959, and she preceded him in death. He attended Fillmore schools and served in the U. S. Air Force. Paul had many careers, including farming, construction and truck driving. Some of his hobbies were fishing and woodworking. He loved helping with projects around his church. He was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church and the Moose Lodge.
Survivors include his sons, Brian Runnells of Avon and Darrell Runnells of Greencastle; three grandchildren, Aaron Runnells, Emily Runnells and Taylor Runnells; and one great-grandchild, Sydney Runnells. He was also survived by two sisters, Mavis Broadstreet and Beverly Sinclair, and a brother, Glen Runnells. He was preceded in death by sisters Juanita Kenworthy, Oneita Davidson and Wanda Glaze, and brothers Ray Runnells and Wayne Runnells.
