Ray Runnells, 48, Coatesville, died Thursday (Jan. 2, 1986) at his home. Born in Putnam County on Aug. 28, 1937, he was the son of Vern and Margaret (Campbell) Runnells. His parents survive. On May 27, 1958, he married Dorothy "Dottie" McCloud, and she survives. Mr. Runnells was a lifelong resident of Coatesville. He was a truck driver for Schwerman Trucking Company, Greencastle, for 22 years. He was a parttime employee of Kivett Plumbing and Heating, Coatesville. Mr. Runnells was a 26 year member of the Coatesville Volunteer Fire Department and was fire chief for six years. He was a member of the Indiana Volunteer Fireman's Association. Mr. Runnells was deputy town marshall of Coatesville for eight years. In addition to his parents and wife, he is survived by four children, Patty Fishel and Mike Runnells, both of Coatesville, Nancy Surber, Bainbridge, and Donna Smith, Amo; four sisters, Juanita Kenworthy and Wanda Glaze, both of rural Coatesville, Mavis Broadstreet, Fillmore, and Beverly Pickerell, rural Clayton; and three brothers, Wayne, Greencastle, Paul R., Groveland, and Glen R., rural Coatesville; and eight grandchildren. Services will be conducted at 2 pm Saturday at Wingler Funeral Home, Coatesville, with Rev. Wayne Kivett officiating. Burial will follow at Coatesville Cemetery.
