COUNCIL GROVE - Services will be Saturday at Flint Hills Mortuary here for Mrs. Mary Virginia Shivers, 58, rural Council Grove, who died Wednesday in a Salina hospital. She had cancer.

She was born April 23, 1916 in Saline county. She was a member of the Catholic Church. She was married to Gerald M. Shivers on September 4, 1934 at Abilene. They lived near Wakefield for 20 years then lived in Dwight for 13 years. They moved to rural Council Grove 5 years ago. Mr. Shivers survives.

Other survivors include 5 sons, Raymond Shivers, Belle Plaine, Stanley Shivers, Salina, Gail Shivers, Wichita, James Shivers and Gerald Shivers, both of Council Grove; 3 brothers, Harold Pickering, Overland Park, Robert Pickering, Killeen, Tex. and Stanley Pickering of Washington; 5 sisters, Mrs. Katherine Bachofer, Mrs. Mary Jane Swanson and Mrs. Helen Sweeny, all of Salina, Mrs. Avis Ringo, Holyrod, and Mrs. Nancy Mossberg, Kansas City, Mo.; and 8 grandchildren.

Mrs. Shivers will lie in state Saturday at the mortuary where the parish rosary will be recited. The casket will be closed at the services. Burial will be in Wakefield (sb Highland) Cemetery at Wakefield.
