WINTERS — Ilis B. Simpson, 85, of Winters died Saturday, May 21, 2005 in a local nursing home. He was born January 27, 1920 in Rockwall County, Texas and came to Winters in 1928 settling in the Drasco community. He married Maggie Price January 13, 1940 in Winters and they moved to Winters in 1950. She preceded him in death February 27, 2000. He worked for Runnels County Prect. 2 as a heavy equipment operator for 42 years. He served in the Army Air Corp during World War II. He was a member of the Baptist Church.

He is survived by: two daughters, Patricia Ann Fergueson of Winters Texas and Jo Ann Scheller of Kamay, Texas; one sister, Janie Wearden of Winters, Texas; one brother, Clarence Simpson of San Antonio, Texas; five granddaughters, Charlotte Harris, Debra Taylor, Kila Harris, Teri Bellamy and Tacy Holloway; seven great grandchildren and 9 great-great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends and visitors from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday, May 23, 2005 in the Winters Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Barry Taylor officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery directed by Winters Funeral Home.
