On the 21st of December in 1922, at the age of 25, he met and married 18 year old Myrtis Ellen Braxton and started their family soon after marriage. There was Vera, Clarkson (C.L.), Evelyn, Herman Parker and Phylis.
Franklin was a very industrious farmer who worked 52 weeks of the year, 60 hours a week. His father had passed away at an early age and he and his 61 year old mother lived together in the house that they owned...the census stated that he was the head of the house, which was valued at $1200 and that they owned a radio set. It must have been important to own a radio for it to be included on the census.
He registered for the World War I Draft on September 12th 1918 when he was 20 years old. The description of him on the card was medium height, slender build, blue eyes and light hair. He registered again for the World War II Draft in 1942 when he was 44 years old and the card had written across the top in red...Deceased 7-10-1944.
William Franklin Hadley had lived 46 years, 8 months and 20 days as a farmer at R.F.D Snow Camp, Newlin Twp., Alamance County, North Carolina, USA. He lived there with Myrtis Ellen Braxton his life-long wife, his family and his dear mother Flora.
On July 12th, 1944 he was laid to rest in South Fork Friends Church Cemetery with so many of his other Hadley ancestors.
