Mary G. "Billie" (Bloxton) Meyer, 72, died Thursday, Dec. 14, 1989, at a local hospital in Oceanside, California. She was a native of Virginia and had lived in San Diego County for 43 years. She was a homemaker.

Billie was one of Conway Peyton Bloxton's three youngest children by his now deceased second wife, BLANCHE ERMA SPARKS, who were raised by his sister, Estelle Eustace, until her house burned to the ground after 1930 census. Then they were sent to live with her father's younger sister, ELLA ELIZABETH "Aunt Bettie" BLOXTON (Mrs. Charles W. Barlow), also of Stafford, VA.

The three children were: MARY GERALDINE "BILLIE" BLOXTON (Mrs. Oscar J. Meyer) (1917-1989); Twins: "ERMA" BLANCHE BLOXTON (Mrs. Michael John Hardick) (1915-1983) & CHARLES WILLIAM "SLIM" BLOXTON (1915-2002). (At one time, Conway Peyton Bloxton's sisters, "Estelle" and "Lucy", lived with him in Stafford, VA)

Billie has a Fairfax County Birth Certificate, so she might not have been born in Stafford County, VA.

"Mary Geraldine" (Billie) Bloxton, Class of 1934 - her Senior Class Portrait appears in her McKinley Technical High School, Washington, D.C., yearbook.

1930 Census:
Conway Peyton Bloxton's Twins & daughter with his second wife--all 3 living with his widowed sister, Mary Estelle "Aunt Tillie" Eustace, age 61:

Charles W. "Charlie" "Slim", age 14, nephew;
&
Erma Blanche, age 14, niece;
&
Mary Geraldine "Billie", age 13, niece;

There was also a boarder living with them:
Viola V. Minor, age 78

In the circa 1933 group photo here, the elderly lady (far right) could be one of three of Billie's father (Conway Peyton Bloxton's) sisters (but probably Estelle, since they were on the 1930 census with her):
MARY "ESTELLE" "Aunt Tillie" BLOXTON (Mrs. Frank EUSTACE) (1868-1947), Lucy Bloxton Stevens, or ELLA ELIZABETH "Aunt Bettie" BLOXTON (Mrs. Charles W. Barlow), all of Stafford, VA.
Billie & Erma's half-brother's family, Alex (Margarita) Bloxton, Betty & Bobby, are visiting them and their aunt on the farm. Billie is holding Betty Bloxton (b. 1929); Erma is behind Alex, and Bobby Bloxton (born 1923) is in front of either Aunt Estelle, Lucy, or Bettie.

My Aunt Billie was an avid bowler and active in bowling organizations, including the North County USBC Association. The "Billie Meyer Memorial Bowling Scholarship" is still available today in her name. She and her sister, my Aunt Erma, bowled together on leagues before Erma got cancer.

She is survived by her son, Oscar J. Meyer, Jr. of Pacifica; a granddaughter, Stephanie M. Meyer of Pacifica; and a brother, Clyde Bloxton of Washington. She was predeceased by a favorite nephew in 1986, Robert Conway Bloxton, Sr.

Services were held Saturday, Dec. 16, 1989, at 9 a.m. at Eternal Hills Mortuary Chapel. Dr. Richard Miller of the Twin Cities Christian Church of Oceanside officiated. Private interment took place at Eternal Hills Memorial Park. The family requests memorials be made to The American Cancer Society, Escondido; or to the American Heart Association, San Diego Chapter. Arrangements by Eternal Hills Mortuary.
