Donald Southam Cook, our dear husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, passed away in his home in Salt Lake City of natural causes on Thursday, 28 February. He was 89.

Donald was born in Cedar Fort, Utah to Alice Adeline Southam and Barnes Alma Cook. He married his wife of 62 years, Alice Cleo Hayes Cook, on 3 May 1950 in the Salt Lake Temple.

He served in the Navy during World War II and as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in the Northern States. Donald was a devoted father and staunch member of the church. He loved to travel and meet new people. He was also an avid reader with an extraordinary memory who loved to tell you all about the books he read, most of which were history or biography. He was a very compassionate and caring individual who made friends easily. His family and myriad friends will miss him tremendously.

He is survived by his wife, Alice Cleo Hayes Cook, two sons, Vernon Cook (Gloria) and Darrel Cook (Sara), and four daughters, Jeanne Low (Daniel), Nancy Kitt (Douglas), Carla Matagi (Heli), and Terry Tuttle (Scott).
