Elizabeth, as she was known, was born in Plain City, Weber County, Utah on October 23rd, 1880. She was the oldest of 12 children. She was predeceased by her mother, Lucy and her father Robert James Eames, three brothers and seven sisters. The youngest sister, Opal Blackburn of Porterville, California is still living. She is also predeceased by two sons, Donald in infancy and Louis Robert King, May 1st, 1972.
Elizabeth and her husband came to Canada on their honeymoon in 1902. They played an integral part in the growth of Raymond. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held many positions in all capacities. She had a sunny disposition and shared her musical talents freely with the community.
In later years she wrote and compiled detailed histories of the first 70 years of the progress and development of the Town of Raymond and the first 50 years of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Raymond area. These six large volumes are housed in the Raymond Library and a tree is dedicated at the Town Hall in her honor. Each year a high school student receives the Elizabeth King Scholarship for scholastic ability. Elizabeth loved people and they in turn loved her. She has been the oldest resident of Raymond for some time and lived in the Ridgeview Lodge until her passing.
She leaves to mourn six children, Harold Thomas (Melva) King of Raymond, Stella Hill of Bremerton, Washington, Shirley Wayne (Dora) King of Raymond, Necia (Wesley) Mullett of Cedar City, Utah, LaVonne (Niles) Wing of American Fork, Utah, and Melba (Wm.) Mehew of Provo, Utah; 22 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 27th, 1986 at 11 a.m. in the Raymond Stake L.D.S. Chapel with Bishop Clayne Steed officiating. Interment will follow in the Temple Hill Cemetery.
