He was born May 5,1915, in Chester County, South Carolina to Mrs. Mary MacDonald Moffett and the late Mr. Charles Moffatt The oldest of twelve children, of which eleven survives. He received his education in the Public School System of Chester, S.C~ At the age of sixteen, he was converted and joined the Cedar Grove Baptist Church of Chester County, South Carolina, where he served as musican for the first Music Choir of his home church.
In February 1943, he was united in holy wedlock to Miss Ida Mae Barber; from this' union they were blessed with one son. In Sept. ' 1943, he moved to Baltimore, Maryland.
Keeping with his Baptist Covenant, he, joined the Mount' Pleasant Baptist Church under the leadership of. the late Rev. HJ. Tunson;¬DD While at Mt. Pleasant, he was the first director of the Gospel Chorus, served as di¬rector of the first Male Chorus and former treasurer of the Trustee Board. Because of his Christian life and musical background, he sang with such groups as The Four Echos, The Shinning Light Gospel Singers and The Friend¬ly Gospel Singers. At the time of his pass¬ing he was a member of the Male Chorus, The Combined Choirs and Business Manager of the Whosoever Will Club of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church under the dynamic leadership of Rev. Clifford M. Johnson.
He was a devoted husband, father,grand¬father- a loving son and brother who loved his family and provided for them the best he COUld. Nathaniel was a man whose kind heart¬edness drew people to him. He was well loved and respected by all his family and friends.
