On December 9, 1977, Deacon Joseph C. Moffett departed this life at S. Baltimore General Hospital after a brief illness.

He was born July 12, 1917 to Mary C. Moffett and the late Charlie Moffett in Chester County, S.C. He was converted at an early age and joined the Cedar Grove Baptist Church where he served faithfully until moving to Baltimore in 1942. Upon moving to Baltimore he united with the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church. He later became a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church where he sang on the choir and served on the Sr. Usher Board. His favorite song was:
"When They Ring the Golden Bells." He was one of the charter members of Cornerstone under the dynannc lead¬ership of Dr. Logan Kearse, where he served on the Dea¬con Board until his death. He was united in holy matri¬mol1Y to Mary E. Barber in August, 1943.

"J.C." or Joe, as he was often called, was one that you could always call upon for advice any day of the week or any hour of the night. J.C. was always there.

A child of the King, a devoted husband, a loving father,
a wonderful son and brother - he leaves to cherish his memory a wife, Mary E. Moffett; a son, Marcelle Moffett; mother, Mrs. Mary C. Moffett, Rock Hill, S.C.; four sis¬ters, Mrs. Loretha Hayles, Mrs. Mildred Foster, Mrs. Annie Fred Douglas of Rock Hill, S.C. and Mrs. Almond Brown of Chester, S.C.; five brothers, Clyde, Marion L., Rock Hill, James, W., Willie A, and Horace W. of Baltimore, Md.;
four aunts, 1!rs. Amanda McDonald of Chester, S.C., Mrs. Daisy Thomponson and Mrs. Willie Solmon of Baltimore, and Mrs. Molly Whiteside of Kings Creek, S.C.; one uncle, Frank Moffett; seven sisters-in-law; seven brothers-in¬law; a host of neices, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
