Mrs. Alice M. Woodring, 92 of 246 Ringgold St. widow of Charles W. Woodring died at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, March 7 in the Waynesboro Hospital. She had been in failing health for the past five years and was critically ill for three weeks. She was admitted to the hospital on Feb 23.
Born Feb 21, 1893 in Washington Township, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Clara (Barkdoll) Keckler. Most of her life was lived in the Waynesboro area.
Following their marriage in 1910, she and her husband operated farms near Waynesboro and in the Five Forks area.
After the death of her husband in Sept 1951 she was employed for several years at the Musselman Canning Plant in Biglerville.
She had lived with her son in law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. George Reed at the present residence for the past 26 years.
Mrs. Woodring was a member of Grace Baptist Church.
Surviving are seven children; Mrs. Alvilda Reed, Henry Woodring, Aaron Woodring and Mrs. Sara Hade, all of Waynesboro; Mrs. Caroline Brackett, York; Arthur Woodring, Hagerstown and Merle Woodring, Chambersburg.
Also surviving are 44 grandchildren, 63 great grandchildren, six great great grandchildren and these sisters and brothers, Mrs. Carrie Bonebrake, a resident of the Guilford Nursing Home, Mrs. Meda Balsley, a resident of the Quincy United Methodist Home; Jay Keckler and Merle Keckler, both of Waynesboro and Mrs. Loretta Ebersole, Hyattsville, Md.
Services will be held SUnday at 2 p.m. in the Grove Funeral Home with the Rev. John Huff officiating. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m.
