Thomas O. Devault
Thomas Oliver Devault, 78, retired caretaker of Highland cemetery in Mount Pleasant, and a resident of Brookside, Ohio for nearly a quarter of a century, died of a heart attack at 4:45 o'clock Sunday afternoon at the home of his son, Fred Devault, Brookside. Deceased was born in Farmington, Ohio, April 30, 1858, a son of the late William W. and Mary M. Grover Devault. He had spent the greater part of his life in Mount Pleasant, but following his retirement a number of years ago took up residence at Brookside. He was a member of the Methodist Protestant church at Mt. Pleasant. Deceased was also connected with the Bellaire lodge Independent Order of Odd Fellows. Survivors include his son, Fred Devault, of Brookside; one daughter, Mrs. D. T. Beatty, also of Brookside; five brothers, Henry Devault, of Glenns Run, Ohio, Moses and Charles Devault, of Cadiz Pike, James F. and Clyde E. Devault, both of Farmington, Ohio; four sisters, Mrs. William Woods of Martins Ferry, RFD, Mrs. Mattie Graham, of Akron, Ohio, Mrs. George Tice and Mrs. Forrest Martin of Gnaddenhutten, Ohio. Funeral services will be held in the Baptist church at Martins Ferry, Wednesday, with interment at the Blaine, Ohio cemetery.
