Mrs. G. M. Barnes, Widow of Former Bank Head, Dies
Mrs. George M. Barnes, life resident of the city, died suddenly yesterday afternoon at her home, 631 W. Onondaga st.
Her husband had been a prominent Syracuse banker and at the time of his death, president of the old Central City Trust Co.
Mrs. Barnes was the former Miss Agnes Rafferty, the last survivor of the Dominick Rafferty family. She was formerly active in various Syracuse social and charitable activities.
Surviving are a son, Lawson Barnes; two daughters, Mrs. Georgiana Legg and Mrs. Allan B. Coughlin of Fayetteville; three stepsons, Mowry and Stetson of White Plains and Lawrence Barnes of North Plainfield, N. J.; eight grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 8:45 a.m. Monday at the home and at 9:30 a. m. in Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. Burial will be in St. Agnes Cemetery. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the home and from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow. They are requested not to send flowers.
