Bio Photo If you are asking for a transfer either make sure you are logged into Find A Grave when you send the transfer request OR manually insert your member number into the email if you are not sure! Missing member numbers mean I have to send you an email and ask and it's a lot more likely your transfer request will just fall between the cracks.

I have re-enabled messages for the first time in two months but please use the Edit tab in the upper right corner of the memorials for all edits and transfer requests!. I will not be responsible for any edits or transfer requests left as messages, I may see them and get to them but I may not.

I apologize for my inability to respond to all the emails I have received, once I get through the current backlog of SACs I will attempt to go back through older emails and respond to them.

Thank you for all the thank yous you have showered on me! I am ecstatic to have helped so many people find relatives and loved ones, and that has made this project very worthwhile, if time consuming.

If you take over a memorial I created please exercise care in changing surnames and follow the Find A Grave naming conventions. In other words, don't add all the prior married names in the surname field, create hyphenated surnames that were not actually used by the person and don't tie out to written death records or cemetery records, etc. I know the site doesn't handle prior married names well but if you create chimera surnames you will only make it impossible for other people to find the memorials you created or are managing, which is not the goal of most contributors.

For details on the monstrous project to document the Forest Lawn cemeteries that was begun in late 2011 and is still being worked on, you can read The Forest Lawn Project.

I am not responsible for duplication of burial unknown memorials that were not placed in a cemetery, the site rules clearly state that unknown burials where the cemetery has not been located after 30 days are not subject to the normal seniority rules on resolving duplicates. A contributor who has posted a memorial with a known burial location may as a courtesy remove their memorial if an older unknown burial memorial is edited and moved into the correct cemetery but the contributor who found the burial location first is under no obligation to do so.. I personally almost always defer to family in this case but I feel no responsibility to delete a memorial I created because an anonymous obituary collector is out there creating memorials on non-family members on the site and feels some compulsion to hoard them.

A disclaimer here: I do not intentionally create duplicate memorials on the site. Because I am using batch processing techniques I never even look at most of the memorials I am creating. If I duplicate one of your memorials either politely notify me or just notify me with no tones of moral outrage (if you can!) and I will remove my memorial. I make every reasonable attempt to avoid duplications but if there is any difference between the two memorials (different names, different years, missing years) the duplicate checking will not catch it. Whenever possible I check the information I am submitting against state death indexes or the social security death index but that is no guarantee of accuracy, only that I have a source for the information I submitted.

Please do not take photos posted by contributors on the site and republish them without either their written consent or a disclaimer on their bio page stating that the contributor is fine with that, please contact them about reposting or republishing their photos. Some contributors don't care but others are quite adamant that photos not be used without their permission.

Donald A. Linn Memorial #94613233
Could you please delete the above memorial for Donald A. Linn as it is a duplicate that I put in Find A Grave in 2007. He is my uncle--his wife, my aunt, is Virginia M. Linn, memorial #94613235. It would be OK if you would transfer her memorial to me, contributor #46917131. Thank you for all the work you do. I know, as a contributor myself, that you try to do the very best you can and try to get as much information out there for others to see. I appreciate your work.

Sincerely,

Karen Flick

George (Thomas Bros.) Thomas
Chris, I finally made another trip to the Bay Area, where I had found that George Thomas is there and got photos and have asked that his location be changed and probably the bio too saying that he was not on Forest Lawn's locator. It took some sleuthing, but I found him!!

Dear Chris,

Could you please delete this memorial #85526571 as it is a duplicate of #83197964. I can't do it as I did not create the original memorial.

Thank you for the transfer, but we don't need two.

Again, thanks for you help and considerations,
Bonnie #47464165

Eny Treaster
I found a marker for Edward E. Treaster at the location given for Eny Treaster with the same birth/death years. Is this the same person? If so, I'll add the photo I took.

Hi Chris,

I'm new to this. How do I request a transfer of my grandmother Alice Otto Salabaj's grave/memorial to me?

Thank you,

I'm new to this and I don't understand how you are explaining what I need to do to sponsor my grandmother grave. Her name is Alice Otto Salabaj. I am her granddaughter. I also would love it if you could take a picture of her grave. I don't know where or how to request that either. Thank You, Susan Kring
