I have been researching my family since the early 1980's when I inherited a family book full of Holcombe ancestry written by my grandmother's cousin. The author had no children so it was left to me.The beginning Holcombe's/Holcomb's are in this book from the 1st landing. Thomas Holcombe is the 1st name to arrive in the present U.S.A.1630 A.D.& written that his birth place was County Devon, England or Pembrokeshire, Wales.He sailed to America from Plymouth, Eng.with cousins.

All Holcombes in this book of records starting from John Holcombe Knight of the Xl (11th) century to my Grandmother Lois Davenport & her children are in cluded in this book. Her Mother being Melinda Estelle Holcombe of Ga.

I opened that book and could immediately read the code in which it was written and I have been hooked on tracing the other sides of my family, ever since.

I am an old time musician so it is hard to choose between researching my ancestors and learning fiddle tunes.

My other lines are Davenport, Mills, Westmoreland, Lewis, Wallace,Alexander, Akin, Nelson, Brown,Edwards & Whitfield.

My married in family include Lassiter, Garrison, Smith, Allen, Holloway, James & Coach Bobby Dodd Ga Tech.

My adopted family names are Wood,Lewis, and various relatives from Buchanan,GA Toccoa,GA Rome,GA,Ft. Myers Fla., Macon, GA
