ERNEST G. SHUMAKER

Ernest Glen Shumaker, 58, who had been in the insulation, roofing and siding business at St. Anna (town of Russell) until taken ill three years ago, died of a heart ailment at his home Wednesday afternoon. Born in Nevada, Mo., April 28, 1898, he was a son of Alfred and Emma Jane Malloy Shumaker. When a boy of 7, he moved with his family to the state of Washington and later to Montana. In 1928 he married the former Ethel Getschman in California. A short time later the couple came to Wisconsin, locating first in Milwaukee and late in Green Bay, where the wife died in 1932. In 1933 he married the former Lucille Van Erem in Green Bay and the couple moved to Kiel where Mr. Shumaker was a salesman in this area for the Wearever Aluminum Co. Fourteen years ago he moved to St. Anna where he entered the roofing field.
Surviving are his wife; seven daughters, Mrs. Frank Diller (Eileen) of Cincinnati, Ohio, Mrs. Leo Pierce (Donna) of Flint, Mich., Miss Clarice Shumaker, Newark, N.J., Mrs. Wilfred Kleinhans (Mavyn) of Route 2, Kiel, Miss Ila-Gene Shumaker of Milwaukee and Janell and Charlene, both at home, four sons, Edward of Flint, Mich., Arden of Kiel and Alfred and Robert at home, and nine grandchildren.
Also surviving are his parents, who reside in Spokane, Wash.; six sisters, Mrs. Robert Diebel of Okanogan, Wash., Mrs. Albert Anderson of Almont, N. D., Mrs. William Phipps of Moses Lake, Wash., Mrs. Clara Vedder and Mrs. Wayne Sweet of Spokane, Wash., and Mrs. Allen Flack of Seattle; and two brothers, Merrill of Soap Lake, Wash., and Leo of Twisp, Wash.
Services will be held at the Meiselwitz Funeral Home in Kiel.
