Lloyd Merrille Shumaker was born March 24, 1907, a son of Alfred and Jenny Shumaker. He grew up on a farm near Mildred MT. As a single man, he went to WA in 1935, working in orchards for several years before acquiring his own farm near Soap Lake. During his retirement years, he did volunteer work for the Department of Social and Health Service, taking patients to doctors, clinics and hospitals to Seattle and surrounding areas. He was a great friend to developmentally disabled people and provided transportation to athletic events. He was the kind of person that helped people whenever he could.
He was know as a great gardener and canned fruits and vegetables each year, being famous for his pickles.
Mr Shumaker passed away January 12, 1989, at his home in Soap Lake WA.
