John Wilson Jamison was the son of Capt. John Wilson Jamison, CSA and Eleanor Harriet Miles. Born in Summerville, SC, he was their youngest child. He received his early education in Summerville. When he was a young man he moved to Jacksonville, Florida where he met his wife Mary G. Cannon. They had one child, John Wilson Jamison, Jr.
John moved to Birmingham, Alabama and worked for over thirty two years in the transportation department of three railroads. He operated cafes in Birmingham for twelve years and finally was a storekeeper at the Crippled Children's Clinic and hospital for thirteen years before he became ill about a year before his death.
For many years he lived at 1001 Essex Rd. in Birmingham. He was a member of Advent Episcopal Church there and was also associated with the Lions Club . He was survived by his wife of nearly fifty years and his son.
