David Flavel Jamison was the son of John Wilson Jamison (1839-1886) and Harriet Eleanor Miles (1849-1899. He was named for his grandfather, David Flavel Jamison (1810--1864)of Orangeburg, SC. Born in Summerville, South Carolina he was the owner of Jamison Plant Farm in Dorchester, County, South Carolina. He sent vegetable plants all over the country by mail for use in gardens. He married Minnie Perry in 1919 and was the father of five children: David F. Jamison, Jr. (1921-1964), Elizabeth Margaret Jamison (1922-2007), William Perry Jamison (1924-2004), Harriet Eleanor Jamison (1928-1936), and Albert Lee Jamison (1933-2006). He died in 1963 in Columbia, South Carolina.
