Service Held From Farm Home and Methodist Church at Thomas
Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the farm home, for William Arnold Boadwine who passed away there after a long illness Tuesday Morning. Service followed from the Methodist Church at Thomas at 2:30 o'clock with Rev H.A. Okdale, Pastor of Grace Lutheran Church of Watertown, in charge.Burial was made at the Thomas cemetery. (Several years later he was moved to Pleasant View Cemetery in Hayti.)
Pallbearers were William Schuelke, Ray Hunter, Howard Smith, Martin Cararude, Edwin Fritz and Ed Amacher.
William Arnold Boadwine was born on his father's farm at Thomas on October 19, 1899. He remained on the farm until June1,192 when he was married to Doris Ripley. Since that time he was engaged in farming in the Thomas vicinity.
His long illness resulted from a disease known as "Addison's Disease," He died Tuesday morning, August 19, at the age of 30 years and 10 months. He was baptized in the Catholic church, although he never affiliated with any church. His mother, Bertha Boadwine, and a little daughter, Maureen, preceded him in death.
Besides his wife and two little daughters, Irdene and Wila Mae, he is survived by his father, Oliver Boadwine, five brothers and two sisters. The brothers, all of whom live at home, are Nelson R., Francis, Graydon, Noel and Howard, while the sisters are Mrs. Arthur Griffin and Rhoda Boadwine, and grandparents, Robert and Emily Stark of Thomas, also survive."South Dakota Births, 1856-1903
