In 1935, their son, Rodney, was born at a Watertown hospital.
In 1951 they bought the farm directly south of the home place and were living there when their daughter, Joyce, was born in 1942. That fall, after the death of Noel's father, they moved back to the home place, where they raised cattle, hogs and sheep.Their daughter, Donna, was born in 1945. In 1946, Noel had to retire because of ill health.
In 1957 Rodney married Edythe Harper and took over the home place after Noel and Dorothy moved to their home in Thomas. Noel was able to continue working with Rodney until 1967. He died in 1969.
