Lowell James Christensen, 92, went home to see his beloved wife, Beth, on Monday, July 18, 2011.

The son of James Elinus and Lillie Jeppesen Christensen, Lowell was born November 11, 1918 in Moore, Idaho. He was raised in Harper Ward and Brigham City areas. He graduated from Box Elder High School and attended Utah State University when it was still Agricultural College.

Lowell married Beth Nielsen on November 9, 1941 and together they raised two daughters and a son.

He served in WWII in the Army Air Corp in Japan as an airplane mechanic and later was in charge of the Base Exchange.

Lowell worked as a Department Manager in Computer Information Systems at Hill Air Force Base for 33 years before retiring.

He loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding horses, and in later years, golfing. He also enjoyed house construction, leatherworking, woodworking and playing all kinds of card games. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, took pride in serving his neighborhood and friends as handyman, ‘tax guy', and he never wavered as a father and grandfather who taught his family by modeling responsibility, true principles, sportsmanship, and patriotism.

Lowell is survived by son, Jeffrey L. (Diane) Christensen of Layton; daughters, JoAnn C. Hackley of South Ogden; Jean C. Smith of West Point; ten grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; brothers, Gale Christensen of West Haven; Don Christensen of Roy; and sister, Ellen Walker of Brigham City.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved Beth, and by two sisters and two brothers.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 23rd at 11 a.m. at Lindquist's Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.

The family will meet with friends on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the mortuary.
