Anona Christensen May, Age 91, died at Clearfield, Utah, on July 10, 2006. She was born March 6, 1915 in Bear River City, Utah to James E. and Lillie Althea Jeppesen Christensen. She married Byron Wayne May on November 21, 1934. The marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple on June 5, 1940.
Anona moved with her parents, at the age of two weeks, to Moore, Idaho, where they lived for the next ten years. She then moved with her family to Harper Ward, two miles north of the family home and she continued to reside in Harper Ward until 1948 when she and her family moved to Brigham City. She and her husband lived for a short time in Rockland, Idaho, and West Yellowstone, Montana. Eleven months ago, when it became difficult for her to live alone, she moved to Clearfield where she was living with her daughter, Betty, at the time of her death.
Anona spent much of her time as a support to her husband and family. She was a cook at the Cooley Memorial Hospital in Brigham City for twenty years and helped set up the kitchen and then cooked for one year at the Brigham City community Hospital. Everyone enjoyed her great food. She enjoyed her flower and vegetable gardens and was always sharing flowers and produce with others. She was a very hard worker and was always looking for ways to help others with food and a kind word.
She was very active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She served as Young Women's president in Harper Ward and the North Box Elder Stake.
She has been a teacher in all of the organizations. She also served in her Stake and Ward Relief Societies as a Counselor and President.
Anona and Byron served a full time mission to the London England South Mission. She also served in the Ogden Temple for eighteen years. One of her great loves was that of genealogy and she was very diligent and successful in her research. She had been a visiting teacher for most of her life.
Anona is survived by her children, Wayne "B" (Diane) May, North Logan, Utah; Cherrol (Joseph) Kearsley, Bountiful, Utah; Betty Jiminez, Clearfield, Utah and Alice (Brian) John, South Ogden, Utah; brothers, Lowell, Gale and Don Christensen and sister, Ellen Walker. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Byron and brothers, Harvey and Joseph Christensen, sister, Lavell Mastranardi,
