He was born July 9, 1917 in Moore, Idaho to James Elinus Christensen and Lillie Althea Jeppesen. He married Mary Katherine Gecan on September 5, 1940 in Ogden.
Joseph was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was active as High Priest group leader, Elders Quorum president, counselor in the bishopric, scout leader, YM president, temple worker, and guest service missionary.
He was an avid quarter horseman; loved to fish and be with his family and grandchildren. He was director of Eden Water Works Company.
Surviving are his wife of 64 years, Mary K. Christensen; one daughter and one son, Mary Jo (Bob) Hancock, St. George; Brent J. (Kareleen) Christensen, Eden; 11 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters and three brothers, Anona May, Lowell Christensen, Gale (Nelda) Christensen, Don (Betty) Christensen, and Ellen (Lee) Walker.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister LaVel Mastronardi, brother Harvey Christensen; and great grandson Taylor James Christensen.
