Emma Novak, daughter of Joseph and Frances Tuma Kolar was born on a farm north of Wayne April 11, 1885 and died January 10, 1970 at the Belle View Manor at the age of 84 years, 9 months and 29 days.
She attended Kunkel school north of Wayne. February 12, 1907 she was united in marriage to Frank Novak, sr. and to this union seven children were born, four sons and three daughters.
She lived her entire life in Republic county. After the death of her husband April 6, 1954 she moved to Belleville and the last two years due to her health, she lived at the Belle View Manor.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three sisters, three brothers, two grandchildren.
Survivors are: her sons, Charley of Belleville, Frank of Randall, John of Formoso, Michael of Agenda; daughters, Mrs. Sylvia Lund of Concordia, Mrs. Lily Grossner of Hiawatha, Mrs. Blanche Hansen of Belleville; one brother, James of Republic; one sister, Mrs. Adolph Blecha of Belleville; 24 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at the Bachelor-Faulkner-Dart Chapel with the Rev. John W. Frint officiating. Interment was in the Grace Hill cemetery.
