Frances Kolar
Frances Tuma, daughter of John and Mary Tuma, was born in Dadice county, village of Hermanece, Czechoslovakia, May 7, 1845, and departed this life November 29, 1945, at the age of 100 years, 6 months and 22 days. She was baptized in the Presbyterian church early in life.

In the year of 1870 she was united in marriage to Joseph Kolar. In 1871 they came to the United States, stopping at Red Oak, Ia., where they lived for one year and then came to Republic county, Kan., settling in Jefferson township on a farmstead where she went through many hardships with the early pioneers.

To this union 12 children were born, three of whom passed away in infancy. Her husband also preceded her in death in 1912, one son, Frank in 1909 and one daughter, Anna in 1921. For the last 15 years Mrs. Kolar lived with her daughter, Mrs. Mary Blecha near Munden, who cared for her tenderly up to the last.

She leaves to mourn her departure four daughters, Mrs. Josie Kauer of Cuba, Kan., Mrs. Frances Cecrle of Holemberg, Kan., Mrs. Emma Novak of Belleville, Kan., and Mrs. Mary Blecha of Munden, Kan.; three sons, Joseph of Cuba, Kan., Milek of Haddam, Kan., and James of Topeka, Kan.; one brother, Paul Tuma of Cuba, Kan.; 38 grandchildren, four of whom are serving with the armed forces, and 66 great-grandchildren, two of whom are also in services, also five great-great-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Services were held in the Cuba Presbyterian church, the Rev. J.W. Frint officiating. Interment was in Kopsa cemetery.
