John R. Lowery, 86, of Normalville, R.D.1 formerly of Connellsville, died at 10:55 p.m. Tuesday in the Brownsville Hospital, Brownsville.
He was born May 14, 1886, at Bear Run and was the son of the late Reuben and Huldah Moon Lowery. He has been a Connellsville area resident most of his life.
He was a retired Baltimore and Ohio brakeman, retiring in 1951. He was a member of the B & O Veterans Assn. and the Connellsville United Presbyterian Church.
Surviving is one son, Ronald R of Vermillion, Ohio; one granddaughter, two great-grandchildren and one brother, Albert E of Connellsville.
He was preceded in death by his wife Gertrude in 1956 and two brothers and four sisters.

Friends of John R Lowery of Normalville RD 1 who died Tuesday, September 12, 1972 will be received in the Samuel C Brooks Funeral Home, 111 E Green St. Connellsville, from 7 to 9 p.m. today and 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday where services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday with the Rev. William Sreidon Blair officiating. Internment will be in Green Ridge Memorial Park.
