SARAH INEZ (COLLIER) BENNETT was one of my great, great, grandmothers. She was born on March 20, 1853, in Hartford, Ohio County, Kentucky, a small town which is located SW of Louisville, KY., and NW of Bowling Green, KY.

At the age of seven her parents, Henry Harrison Collier and Susan Frances Almond, moved to another small town with the quaint name of Pocahontas, Arkansas. This is where Sarah spent the majority of her youth. Sarah was the 4th of ten children which her parents had.

At the age of 19 she was married to John Paradise Bennett, son of Captain Harrison Bennett and Sarah Hines. Sarah and John were married on July 21, 1872, in Pocahontas, Randolph County, Arkansas. Together they produced eight children, seven daughters and one son.

In 1878 they moved from Pocahontas to Prairie Grove, Washington County, Arkanasas, and twenty years later they moved to Springdale, Benton County, Arkansas, where they lived out the rest of their lives.

Five of her seven daughters, and her one son, survived her including my great grandmother Onie Jane Bennett. She passed away on July 7, 1939, in Springdale, Arkansas. Her husband died in 1931 and they were both buried in the Springdale Bluff Cemetery.
