Services Are Held Today
Funeral services were conducted this afternoon at the Christian church in Hopkins for Paul Laipple, 82 years old, who died about midnight Wednesday at his home in Hopkins following a long illness.
Rev. B. H. Harmon, pastor of the Woodson Chapel Christian church of St. Joseph, assisted by Rev. P.H. Peterson, pastor of the Christian church of Hopkins, officiated. Burial was in the Hopkins cemetery.
Born April 22, 1862, at Fostoria, Ohio, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Paul Laipple, he moved to Morgan county, Mo., with his parents when a small boy. The family settled near Florence and Sedalia, Mo., where he grew to manhood.
He was married April 22, 1889, at Eminence, Mo., to Miss Marietta Norton of Bedford, Ia. As a young man he was engaged in the blacksmith business and located at Bedford, where he resided until 1904 when he moved to Hopkins. He continued with his blacksmith business until five years ago when ill health forced him to retire.
Mr. Laipple was a member of the Christian church and the Masonic lodge at Hopkins.
Surviving are his wife; one daughter, Amy, of the home; one son, Myron Laipple, Glendale, Calif., and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Charles W., and a daughter, Edra Kathryn.
