Mrs. Donald Vanasek of New Prague, 63, died at Queen of Peace Hospital on Saturday evening, February 23.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, with Pastor Don Fultz officiating. Serving as pallbeareres were John Vanasek, David Vanasek and Michael Vanasek, sons of the deceased, Jeffrey Kukacka, a son-in-law and Robert Vanasek and Wally Mayer, nephews.
Interment was in the Czech National Cemetery in New Prague, and visitation was at the Bruzek Funeral Home.
Mrs. Vanasek was the former Evelyn L. Mayer, a daughter of Albert F. Mayer and Caroline Dahlke Mayer. Born in New Prague on January 7, 1917, she attended the New Prague Public Elementary School and New Prague High School.
On September 15, 1942, she married Donald Vanasek in Montgomery. The couple had a daughter and five sons; two of their sons now being deceased. The family home is at 200 Lyndale Avenue North, New Prague.
Mrs. Vanasek is survived by her husband, Donald Vanasek, a daughter, Mrs. Jeffrey (Carol) Kukacka of New Prague and by three sons, John Vanasek and Michael Vanasek of New Prague and David Vanasek of Minnetonka. Other survivors include her mother-in-law Mrs. Jennie Vanasek of New Prague, two sisters, Mrs. Leonard (Leona) Stanek of Montgomery and Mrs. Stacy Estenson of Fergus Falls; and a brother, Adelbert Mayer of Willmar. There are also five grandchildren. Two sons, Charles and Donald Vanasek died on May 8, 1972 and Mrs. Vanasek's brother, Werner Mayer, is also deceased.
