Sally Ehlenbeck, 94, formerly of Kiel and Whitefish Bay, died Wednesday evening, March 19, 2003, at All About Life Rehabilitation Center, Fond du Lac.
She is the former Sally Schmitz, born May 9, 1908, in Mt. Calvary, daughter of the late Nicholas and Louise A. Steffes Schmitz. Sally graduated from Mt. Calvary High School and attended Alverno College, Milwaukee.
On June 15, 1937, she married Russell Ehlenbeck. The couple lived in Whitefish Bay most of their married lives, moving to Kiel in the late 1980s. He preceded her in death on June 4, 1995.
Sally was the organist and choir director at Holy Family Catholic Church, Whitefish Bay for 25 years. When she moved to the Kiel area, she was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, School Hill, where she was the organist and choir director for six years. She presently was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Fond du Lac.
Survivors include two sons, Gary Ehlenbeck of Fond du Lac and Lynn (Sue) Ehlenbeck of Whitefish Bay; one daughter, Marcie Arnold of Vallejo, Calif.; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She is further survived by one brother, Walter Schmitz of Fond du Lac; one sister, Viola Schmitz-Smith of New York City; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, March 24 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, School Hill, with the Rev. Gregory Coulthard officiating. Burial will take place in the parish cemetery.
Friends may call at the CHURCH on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
